Buganda  Minister Kiyimba Urges Teachers to Instill Values in Learners

Buganda Kingdom Minister for Lukiiko, Information, Cabinet Affairs and Protocol, Noah Kiyimba, has called upon teachers to intentionally nurture discipline, integrity, and strong values in learners so that they grow into responsible and impactful citizens.

While speaking at Backbay School located in Kitukutwe, Kira in Kyaddondo on Wednesday, Kiyimba emphasized that education should go beyond academics and focus on shaping learners’ character and life skills.

Kiyimba encouraged teachers to prioritize moral upbringing alongside classroom instruction, noting that children who are grounded in values are better prepared to navigate life successfully.

“Education must shape not only the mind but also the character. When we instill values and discipline in our children, we prepare them to become meaningful and dependable citizens,” he said.

Kiyimba also advised students to remain obedient, attentive, and focused on their studies, stressing that discipline and respect are key ingredients for success in today’s competitive world.

Kiyimba commended the appearance and standards of Backbay School and applauded its founders for aligning with the Buganda Kingdom’s development agenda of Situla Omutindo. He thanked them for investing in quality education and contributing to the Kingdom’s vision of improving standards across institutions.

The school’s headteacher, Godfrey Nickson Kalyango, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing students who uphold truth and integrity in all aspects of life. He noted that the school aims to nurture learners who remain principled, trustworthy, and morally upright regardless of the challenges they encounter.
